Via 6-mile Jekyll (Downing Musgrove) Causeway. Welcome Center 4 miles on left. Island parking fee: $5.00/vehicle.
24. JEKYLL ISLAND CONVENTION CENTER (1.2) Murals in the entrance lobby depict Jekyll Island's eventful history. Open weekdays; weekends during conferences.
25. ISLAND HISTORY CENTER (.2) Here, you can view a video presentation on Jekyll Island's history, see displays of artifacts from the Jekyll Island Club era, and obtain tickets for tours of the 200-acre National Historic Landmark District.
26. GEORGIA SEA TURTLE CENTER (2.4) In addition to complete medical facilities for injured and ailing sea turtles, the center features exhibits of interest to all ages. Admission fee.
27. GOLF COURSES (.1) Three championship 18-hole golf courses play from a central Clubhouse.
28. TENNIS CENTER (2.8) The Jekyll Island Tennis Center features 13 clay courts.
29. HORTON'S BREWERY SITE (.2) The tabby ruins of Georgia's first brewery. Built by Major William Horton, an aide to General James Edward Oglethorpe, Georgia's founder, the brewery supplied ale to troops and settlers at Fort Frederica on St. Simons Island.
30. HORTON HOUSE (1.2) This two-story ruin, built in 1746 by Major William Horton, is one of the oldest standing tabby structure exteriors in the state. (Tabby is a building material native to coastal Georgia having crushed oyster shells as its principal ingredient.) Located nearby is the Du Bignon family cemetery, including the grave of John Eugene du Bignon, who sold Jekyll Island to the Jekyll Island Club in the late 1800s.
31. CLAM CREEK PICNIC AREA (5.1) A popular picnicking spot that includes a large, covered fishing pier, picnic and restroom facilities.
32. SOUTH JEKYLL LOOP Driving south on Beachview Drive, view some of Jekyll Island's ten miles of beautiful beaches including public bathhouses and picnic areas. Continuing around and onto South Riverview Drive will return you to Fortson Parkway. Turn left to exit the Island.
