A wide variety of leisure time activities are available throughout the area including bicycle and moped rentals, miniature golf, racquetball, guided beach and marsh walks, dinner/casino cruise ship, roller-skating, bowling, live theater presentations and movie theaters, 3 libraries, museums, tours of historical points of interest. . . both self-guided tours with available free tour map and tours directed by area tour operators. . . youth activity programs and picnic areas.

GOLF: 180 holes of golf in Brunswick & The Golden Isles offer a variety of experiences in both degree of challenge and scenic beauty. St. Simons Island's 81 holes feature seaside, marsh view and island view holes. Jekyll Island's 63 holes include the venerable Great Dunes nine-hole links course, modeled after the Old Course at St. Andrews and built for the millionaires who stayed at the Jekyll Island Club. Mainland Brunswick offers Coastal Pines Golf Club and Oak Grove Island Golf Course.

TENNIS: Offered by the county and resort properties throughout the area, court surfaces include laykold, tru-core, grasstex and concrete. Many courts are lighted and professional instruction is available at many properties. In addition, the county maintains courts for public use in many of the parks. Located on Jekyll Island is a complete tennis center - 13 clay courts with a teaching pro and featuring summer tennis camps.

FISHING AND BOATING: Area marinas offer full and partial services to boaters. There are miles of rivers and streams, and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean to choose from for freshwater or saltwater fishing. Congregating at the local fishing piers is also a favorite pastime. A variety of boat rentals and excursions are available. Cocktail and dinner cruises available. A fishing license is required and can be purchased at hardware stores and marinas.

SWIMMING AND WATER SPORTS: Beaches on St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island are open to the public. Public pools are located in Neptune Park on St. Simons Island and in Selden Park in Brunswick. Also, on Jekyll Island is Summer Waves, an 11-acre waterpark with activities for all ages (open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day).

Enjoy Georgia's underwater world by diving the wrecks and reefs with Island Dive Center. A PADI 5 Star Dive Center offering instructions, sales, service, repair, air fills, local and vacation dive trips. Charters are available for groups as small as 4 and as large as 21.

RIDE THE BEACH . . . Horseback rides on "Historic" Jekyll Island: Beach Trail Rides by Victoria's Carriages & Trail Rides. Enjoy rides through the "Maritime Forest" and the salt marsh, and along the beautiful "Driftwood Beach." Rides leave from the Clam Creek picnic area (across from the campground) on the north end of Jekyll Island.
